Retaking Class FAQ

Can I retake the class I had an academic integrity violation in?

It depends. If you received a C or above, then you likely cannot. There may be some exceptions, so please reach out to your academic advisor if you have additional questions.

If I retake this class will the grade be replaced?

If you are responsible for the academic integrity violation, your grade will not be replaced if you retake the course. The grade assigned will be counted in the GPA even if the course is retaken.

Can I reuse my work from the first time I took the class when I retake it?

While it is ultimately up to your instructor, generally no, you should not reuse your work. You should ask your instructor before submitting any previously submitted work.

What does the A1 (or A2, A3, A4) mark mean on my academic record?

The A1, A2, A3, and A4 is a text notation placed by the Office of the Registrar. The notation has nothing to do with the Sanctioning Guidelines or the level/ type of the violation. It cannot be removed but does not appear on your formal/ official transcript.

If I fail the class, do I have to retake it?

You might have to if it is a course required for you to graduate. You should work with an academic advisor to plan your courses.
