Integrity Awareness Week 2020

 

Every year, the UC San Diego Academic Integrity Office organizes and highlights events, workshops, and resources with the goal of bringing awareness to integrity during Integrity Awareness Week (IAW). This year, Integrity Awareness Week will be held from October 19 - 23, 2020 to coincide with Global Ethics Day and International Day of Action Against Contract Cheating (October 21, 2020).

CAPS: Coping During COVID-19Coping-During-COVID19-IAW20.jpg

Integrity Peer Educators will drop into the CAPS drop-in workshop, “Coping During COVID-19” taking place on Monday 10/19 @ 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. It is formatted to be an open discussion about stress during these times, and the peers will take ~10 minutes to talk about the connection between integrity & stress/well-being.

The ZONE: Art & Soul Program DIY Event

Integrity Peer Educators will drop into the Zone’s Art & Soul Program DIY Event taking place on Tuesday 10/20 at 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. Beforehand, students on (or close to) campus will go to the Zone to pick up some DIY materials in bags. Afterwards, the Zone will host a synchronous DIY Zoom meeting to actually do and teach the DIY with everyone there. Peers will stay the whole meeting to spark dialogue about integrity & well-being throughout the event.

ICAI Webinar: Take Action Against Contract Cheating

Covid-19 has made 2020 one of the most difficult years in memory for students and educators. Essay mills and contract cheating services have ramped up advertising to take advantage of vulnerable students. In light of the move to online teaching, ICAI will be running a range of virtual activities to support the day of action as a whole — and providing you with a variety of ideas to run at your own institution.

You may have heard of chegg.com or coursehero.com, but are you aware of all of the ways in which "toxic tutors" are targeting your students and undermining teaching and learning? Attend this talk on the International Day of Action Against Contract Cheating to learn more about "toxic tutors", what you can do to prevent their influence, and how you can detect when cheating does occur

All entries must be original content and come from UC San Diego students. Submissions must include a UCSD email address and may be used in future AIO materials. Qualified entries* received on Wednesday, October 21st between 6 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. PST, will be placed into the raffle. For every 5 entries (up to 100 entries), a drawing will be held for one $25 Amazon gift card. Participants can only win once. Those who win will be notified via email and receive their prize within a few weeks. 

You can also promote integrity awareness through using the social media hashtags #excelwithintegrity and #myownwork to participate in International Day of Action. Check out our social media (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter) for how our peers and fellow organizations at UCSD uphold both integrity and their personal values! Hashtags shared through social media only will not count as an entry to our contest.

Geisel Library Jeopardy Game

Geisel Library is hosting a Preventing Plagiarism Jeopardy game during Integrity Awareness week this year. Access the Jeopardy game to clear the board! At the end of the game, you will be directed to a form where you can submit an entry into our raffle contest. The Geisel Library will announce the winner of their goodies bag the following week.
